Building a Route with Stops and Students

There are several ways to build a route in Logic54. This article discusses the quickest way to build a new route with stops, students, and schools.

Adding a New Route

  1. On the main menu click the Routes tab. 
  2. Click the green Add Route button.
  3. Name the route by entering the Route ID and select the district this route is associated with.
  4. Click Save. Your route will now be displayed in the main list.

Setting Up Your New Route

  • Click the Route ID of the route you created in the main list. This will bring you to the route detail screen.
  • Complete any additional fields that you would like to record. Route duration and distance will be auto calculated when you add stops.
  • You can assign a driver, bus aides, and vehicles to your route from this screen.

Adding Stops to the Route

  1. On the route detail screen, click the green Add Stop button. You will be presented with the option of adding a school or a bus stop to your route.
  2. Enter the location of the bus stop. This can be an address or intersection. For intersections, use the & or @ symbols (ex. Main St & Smith St). Ensure to complete the city, state, and zip code fields to more accurately map the location.
  3. Click Save to add the stop to your route.
  4. At this point, we recommend you add student(s) to the stop. If you are not ready to do this, you can continue adding stops to your route by repeating the steps above.

Adding Students to Stops

  1. Click on the Bus Stop in the route itinerary. This will open the bus stop detail screen with students assigned to the stop listed on the right.
  2. Click the green Add Student button. You will be presented with a pop up box that allows you to add an existing student to the stop or create a new student.
  3. To add a student that is already in Logic54
    1. Type their Last Name into the search drop down box.
    2. Click the Students Name that you want to add to the stop.
    3. Click Save.
    4. The student has been added to the stop and can be seen in the assigned student list.
  4. To create a new student that is not yet entered into Logic54
    1. Enter the student's First and Last Name in the fields provided.
    2. Click Save.
    3. The student has been added to Logic54 and assigned to the stop.
  5. To add additional information for students, click the edit icon next to the students name.

Adding Schools to a Route

  1. On the route detail screen, click the green Add Stop button. You will be presented with the option of adding a school or a bus stop to your route.
  2. Select the School Name from the drop down box.
  3. Click Save.
  4. The school has been added to the route.

Reordering Bus Stops

If you'd like to reorder your bus stops, it's quick and easy without effecting the other parts of your routes. You will notice each stop is listed with a stop number indicating it's position on the route. To reorder a stop, simply change the stop number and hit enter. The stop will be moved to the position you designated, and the rest of the route will be renumbered accordingly. Your map, driving directions, reports, distance, and duration will also be updated automatically.
